Thesis Research:
The Iron Range of northeastern Minnesota has seen a larger than expected number of cases of mesothelioma in taconite workers.  Questions have been raised about the exposure risks of taconite mining, and its impact on the health of miners, their families, and communities.  I will be involved in a study which will examine all-cause mortality in a large cohort of former miners, conduct a case-control study of mesothelioma cases, and carry out a lung health screening program for current and former miners.
