Graduate Programs

Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biophysics Graduate Program

The BMBB Graduate Program features research opportunities in molecular biology, metabolism, and structural biology.

Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program

The BME Graduate Program has a major emphasis in determining how interactions between cells and matrices influence cell behavior and the physical properties of tissue.

Cellular and Integrative Physiology Graduate Program

The Cellular and Integrative Physiology Graduate Program is an interdisciplinary program whose faculty are active researchers in both basic science and clinical departments. Research focuses on two main areas: Cellular and molecular physiology, addressing issues such as cell-to-cell communication, intracellular signaling mechanisms through second messenger pathways and neural encoding and transduction; and integrative physiology, examining the complex interactions that exist between multiple physiological processes.

Chemistry Graduate Program

The Chemistry Graduate Program provides rigorous training in all areas of modern chemistry, and is consistently ranked among the elite research chemistry departments in the country.

Chemical Engineering Graduate Program

The Chemical Engineering Graduate Program encompasses reaction engineering, multiphase flow, statistical mechanics, polymer science and bioengineering. It has been consistently ranked as the top graduate program in the country by the National Research Council and other ranking surveys.

Epidemiology Graduate Program

The Epidemiology Graduate Program provides training for the examination of trends and incidence of disease and behaviors impacting health. The Program emphasizes etiology and prevention of cardiovascular disease, cancer, infectious disease, and substance abuse including alcohol and tobacco.

Medicinal Chemistry Graduate Program

The Medicinal Chemistry Graduate Program is dedicated to the improvement of human health through research leading to new concepts for the design and development of safe and effective therapeutic, diagnostic, and environmental agents.

Microbiology, Immunology and Cancer Biology (MICaB) Graduate Program

The MICaB Graduate Program provides training in the cell and molecular biology of eukaryotes and prokaryotes, with focused specialization in one of three tracks: microbiology, immunology, or cancer biology.

Molecular, Cellular, Development Biology and Genetics (MCDB&G) Graduate Program

The MCDB&G Graduate Program provides training opportunities in basic molecular, cellular, and developmental biology and genetics. Extensive research opportunities exist in model organisms (e.g., Drosophila, C. elegans and zebrafish).

Neuroscience Graduate Program

The goal of the Neuroscience Graduate Program is to provide training opportunities in multidisciplinary approaches toward the understanding of brain function in health and disease. Specific opportunities emphasize addiction, auditory and vestibule systems, degenerative disease, ion channels, motor systems, neurodevelopment, neurogenetics, neuroimaging, pain, and vision neuroscience.

Pharmacology Graduate Program

The Pharmacology Graduate Program focuses on the molecular basis of drug action.
