Nacide Ercan-Fang, M.D.

MEDRES Faculty VAMC Ercan Fang Nacide JPGDr. Nacide Ercan-Fang is the current Associate Program Director for the University of Minnesota Internal Medicine Residency program at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota.

She originally completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Endocrinology at Hacettepe University, Turkey. She subsequently recertified in both specialties at the University of Minnesota. Since then she has been a staff endocrinologist at the Minneapolis VAMC. She provides primary care to a group of diabetic patients. She attends in General Medicine wards and Endocrinology consult rotations.

She has extensive experience in basic science research. She was awarded the 2005 Mary E.Pennock Professorship in Diabetes Research at the University of Minnesota. She also conducts clinical research in Chronic Disease Management of Diabetes.

She has a long-standing interest in student, resident and fellow education. She teaches Endocrinology to small groups of second year medical students at the University of Minnesota. She worked as the VAMC site coordinator for the medical students’ Physician and Patient Program. She lectures students, residents and fellows on Adrenal diseases, Diabetes. She organized mentor assisted and resident-led journal clubs at the Minneapolis VAMC. She emphasizes Evidence Based Medicine in teaching.
