Application Process

You should request admission to the Physician-Scientist Pathway when you complete you application for residency training. Remember, when we schedule your residency interview at the University of Minnesota, it will include 2 components. Your first day will be the standard interview day offered to all Internal Medicine Residency applicants. During the second day, just for Pathway applicants, you will meet with students, faculty and leaders from the graduate and fellowship program(s) of your choice. Applications will be accepted through ERAS only.

• Chair's Letter
• 2 Letters of Recommendation
• Medical Schooltranscripts
• Personal Statement
• Curriculum Vitae in ERAS format
• USMLE Step 1 and 2
• Valid ECFMG Certificate, if applicable
• For applicants to the residency program, the application must be completed by January 15 of the application year.  For applicants who are already in the residency program, application must be completed by Dec. 31 of the PGY-1 year. 
• Applicants will be informed of the decision by the program.  Applicants who are also applying to the residency program will be notified prior to the deadline for submission of your match list.
