The successful applicant may already have an advanced research degree (MS, PhD), or have done substantive research as an undergraduate or medical student. The Pathway is open to those qualified individuals who are applying to the residency program, or for exceptional candidates, during the first year of training in the residency program. The ERAS application will serve as the application to the Physician-Scientist Pathway, and will be reviewed by the Pathway director, the program director in Internal Medicine, and the director of the fellowship program (as appropriate). Applicants meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
- Excellent academic performance
- Completion of an advanced degree program, or substantive prior research activity
Pathway Content You have 2 options depending upon whether you choose subspecialty training: the Internal Medicine Research Pathway and the Subspecialty Research Pathway. The curriculum will be individualized to match your career plans. Opportunities to obtain advanced degrees in one of our outstanding graduate programs will be an essential aspect of the program.
