About the Twin Cities

Minnehaha Falls

The Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, situated on both sides of the Mississippi River, is a large urban area with a high quality of life.  Over 2 million people inhabit these two cities and the surrounding suburbs, and yet, because of the spread over a larger geographic area, traffic and congestion are not an issue and crime rates are relatively low.

The Twin Cities are second only to New York in number of theater seats and cultural events, which include dance, theater, choral music, opera, and broadway musicals.  Museums, art galleries, high caliber restaurants, and shopping venues abound—need we mention the Mall of America?

For the outdoor enthusiast, Minnesota’s more the 10,000 lakes make water skiing, fishing, and boating popular summer activities.  Even in the city, Minneapolis embodies a chain of lakes with top notch walking and biking trails.  The famous Boundary Waters Canoe Area is just a few hours north of the Twin Cities for a great weekend trip.  And in the wintertime, staying inside is only one option:  cross country skiing, snow shoeing, ice skating, and snowmobiling are great excuses to get outside.

For you sports enthusiasts, there is no shortage of professional teams to watch:  The Minnesota Twins and Saint Paul Saints baseball, Vikings football, Timberwolves basketball, Minnesota Wild hockey.  Or for the college scene, take advantage of discount tickets and cheer on the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.
