Prospective Students
Established in 1908 by the Regents of the University of Minnesota, the Program of Mortuary Science is one of the oldest and most comprehensive funeral service education programs in the country. Our graduates are professionals actively serving their communities: Approximately eighty-six percent of of Minnesota's funeral home owners and morticians are alumni of the Program. We offer two academic plans: A 2-year traditional plan for applicants who have already completed two years of general education, and a 1-year accelerated track plan for students who have already earned a baccalaureate degree. At the University of Minnesota, you can explore your major in the stimulating environment of the University of Minnesota's Medical School, with access to the resources of a major research university, which include other distinguished schools such as the Carlson School of Management and College of Education and Human Development. The Program is located in a vibrant urban setting, offering a rich student life experience. Our students have easy access to the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, where they can experience diverse activities such as sports, arts, music, and other cultural and entertainment venues.
