Deep Brain Stimulation
Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center University of Minnesota Medical School University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview
Subthalamic Nucleus (STN) Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapy was until very recently an investigational procedure. In January of 2002, the Food & Drug Administration granted approval for this procedure. We are very excited about the potential impact that the Deep Brain Stimulation program will have on patients and their families. Although not a cure for the disease, we have already seen positive results with the implantation on some of the patients who have undergone the procedure.
