Resident Didactics

Residents are excused from clinical duties to attend weekly didactics on Monday afternoons. Hands-on skills training sessions occur quarterly. Some skills lab topics include basic and advanced laparoscopy, operative hysteroscopy, breast ultrasound and aspiration, pelvic anatomy and dissection, and colposcopy.

The remaining Monday afternoons are comprised of lectures, M&Ms, case presentations/oral Boards prep, resident-lead text review, Life Long Learning series, and class meetings. Lectures are presented by both faculty and outside speakers. Each week, we cover topics from every area of OB/GYN: Obstetrics, Gynecology, Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Urogynecology, Primary Care, Mental Health and more. Special topics, such as liability and professionalism, are also part of the conference schedule.

Below is a sample Monday conference lecture series:

12:00 p.m.    Lunch provided by pharmaceutical companies
12:30 p.m.    Class meeting with Resident Advocate
1:00 p.m.      Basics of labor lecture
2:00 p.m.      Ovarian cancer lecture
3:00 p.m.      Text Review—Williams Obstetrics
4:00 p.m.      GYN M&M
