Dr. Afiat grew up in the midwest. She majored in biology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She attended medical school at University of Nebraska College of Medicine. Her ophthalmology residency was at the University of Minnesota. She has been on the Ophthalmology Clinic staff at Hennepin County Medical Center since 2004. She is currently Medical Director of the Eye Clinic at HCMC
