Dr. Kopietz grew up in Minnesota.  She majored in zoology at the University of Minnesota. She attended medical school at the University of Minnesota.  Her ophthalmology residency was also at the University of Minnesota.  She has been on the Ophthalmology Clinic staff at Regions Hospital since 1983 and serves on the graduate medical school teaching faculty there.
