Welcome to the University of Minnesota Department of Otolaryngology

We join with the medical school in our commitment to being leaders in enhancing the health of people through education, biomedical research, and clinical programs. In the year 2002 we will celebrate our 100th anniversary as a department striving to achieve these goals. Some of our past leaders have included Dr. Lawrence Boies (1955-67), Dr. Michael Paparella (1967-84), and Dr. Arndt J. Duvall III (1984-89). Under the current direction of Dr. George Adams, department chair since 1989, we have continued to pursue excellence in education, research and patient care.

Our outstanding residency training program attracts young physicians nationally and internationally. Through research in the University of Minnesota Graduate School, residents can obtain a Masters or PhD in Otolaryngology. The program is well rounded, training academicians and practitioners who successfully seek career opportunities after completing the program.

Patients who are seeking additional informationabout ear, nose, and throat conditions and the physicians in this department who treat them should refer to the faculty and clinics sections of the web site.
