Associate Professor
My research activities have centered around issues of graduate medical education. As the current Associate Program Director for the University of Minnesota's Training Program, I have focused my efforts into studying several areas including:
- Developing professional behavior among residents
- Determining the best methods for patient hand-offs
- New and innovative methods in 360 degree evaluations
- Developing a Physician/Scientist track
- Defining the educational value of Hospitalists
As Associate Program Director for the Medicine Training Program, I have been involved in the design and implementation of several educational programs at the Minneapolis VAMC. These include the development of an ICU service at the VAMC, redesign of our morning report format, and development of formal teaching rounds. Among my other duties, I develop and define curriculum for rotations at the VAMC, remediate residents, and select and supervise Chief Residents.
