Research Activities
Hennepin County Medical Center
Hennepin County Medical Center has traditionally served as an outstanding clinical training site. A number of recent developments have facilitated the transition to an excellent research fellowship training opportunity. The center has been developing a strong program focused on the neurobiology of ventilatory control led by Dr. Phillip Peterson and Dr. Conrad Iber. This has included studies in the area of sleep disordered breathing, elucidating neural pathways involved in key ventilatory reflexes, and the neuropeptide/hormonal profile characterizing maximal and submaximal exercise. These developments provide research opportunities in the rapidly expanding domain of respiratory neurobiology. There also is tremendous basic research strength in Neurobiology at the University, which makes for an excellent training opportunity in this area
