Project:   In the one year that I was on the grant, I accomplished the following: 1) rebuilt the isolated, perfused lung laboratory; 2) began a systematic investigation into the hemodynamic modulation of ventilator-induced lung injury; 3) continued work on mathematical modeling of respiratory mechanics/gas exchange; 4) wrote or revised several articles - 3 abstracts, 3 grants and a book chapter; and 5) developed a formal collaboration with the Aerospace Engineering Department (Dr. Perry Leo) and helped design the Bioengineering curriculum for the T32.  I left the T32 grant after one year because I obtained external funding from the AHA.
