Alport Syndrome Family Conference 2012
The Alport Syndrome Foundation and the Alport Syndrome Treatments and Outcomes Registry (ASTOR) invite you to our Family Focused Conference. The conference will be held at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus, Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 21 and 22, 2012. We have invited prominent physicians and researchers to join us to provide information on the topics you told us were the most important to you and your family.
The program has two tracks: a Parental Program Track and a Teen/Young Adult Program Track. The two day event will cover the following topics: Overview of Genetics and Genetic Counseling Diagnosis and Treatment Women and Alport Syndrome Hearing issues and advances in audiology Status of current research Patient Registry Psychological and Social Issues Transition from pediatric to adult care Nutrition The program for the Teen/Young Adults is based on the information we received from a survey we conducted last fall for this age group and will address their areas of interest. In addition, the University of Minnesota's Youth & Community Program staff will be offering opportunities for Teens/Young Adults to enjoy some of the great features the University campus has to offer.
