Alport Syndrome Family Conference 2012

The Alport Syndrome Foundation and the Alport Syndrome Treatments and Outcomes Registry (ASTOR) invite you to our Family Focused Conference. The conference will be held at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities Campus, Minneapolis, Minnesota on July 21 and 22, 2012.

All the information you need to register for the conference is provided here: https://secure.ahc.umn.edu/alport/main/?page=conference

This conference will be open to patients, families and physicians and will include programming for adults and teens, and social activities for the entire family. We have invited prominent physicians and researchers to join us to provide information on the topics you told us were the most important to you and your family.

The program has two tracks: a Parental Program Track and a Teen/Young Adult Program Track. The two day event will cover the following topics:

Overview of Genetics and Genetic Counseling
Diagnosis and Treatment
Women and Alport Syndrome
Hearing issues and advances in audiology
Status of current research
Patient Registry
Psychological and Social Issues
Transition from pediatric to adult care
Nutrition

The program for the Teen/Young Adults is based on the information we received from a survey we conducted last fall for this age group and will address their areas of interest. In addition, the University of Minnesota's Youth & Community Program staff will be offering opportunities for Teens/Young Adults to enjoy some of the great features the University campus has to offer.

Register for the conference here: https://secure.ahc.umn.edu/alport/main/?page=conference&sect=register
