Dr. Daniel Gruenstein joined the faculty at University of Minnesota July
2006 as Director of Pediatric Interventional Cardiology for the Department
of Pediatrics and the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview.
Dr. Gruenstein came to the University of Minnesota from Case Western Reserve

of Cardiology at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland. He
attended Washington University for his undergraduate degree, received his
M.D. from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and was a Pediatric
Resident and Cardiology Fellow at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.
Dr. Gruenstein has particular interest in expansion of our interventional
cardiology services, especially in the use of intravascular stents and
hybrid catheterization-surgical procedures. He has been working closely
with the pediatric cardiothoracic surgeons to develop a team that performs
cutting-edge hybrid procedures in the new state-of-the-art hybrid
catheterization laboratory. Dr Gruenstein and Dr. Cynthia Herrington, from
Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, performed the first Hybrid Team procedure
to be done in the new lab shortly after his arrival in July of 2006.
Dr. Gruenstein's clinical research interests focus on intracardiac device
placement in the cath lab.
