Kristin Kim, M.D., Ph.D. is an assistant professor of Pediatric Emergency Medicine and a staff physician at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. Dr. Kim received her M.D. degree from Chicago Medical School / Rosalind Franklin University. She completed her residency in Pediatrics and her fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan. Dr. Kim joined the division of PEM in August 2010. After growing up in Colorado, she graduated from California Institute of Technology with a degree in physics. She received her Ph.D. in physics and astrophysics from Dartmouth College, and worked as a post-doctoral researcher in space physics at Los Alamos National Laboratories. During graduate school, she developed an interest in the medical needs of underserved populations and access to care. She is currently interested in developing plans to meet the special needs of children during public health emergencies, including improving the readiness of the public health and EMS systems to care for children in medical disasters.
