Jeff Louie, M.D. is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Emergency Medicine and staff physician at the Universtiy of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital.
Dr. Louie is originally from California and received his BA in Biochemistry and Minor in Asian American Studies at San Jose State University. After college, Dr. Louie worked two years at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration at the Ames Research Center studying the effects of hypergravity and countering the effects of zero gravity in animal studies. He completed his medical education at Loyola University School of Medicine in Maywood, Illinois. After medical school, he traveled east to the University of Maryland at Baltimore to complete his residency and chief residency in pediatrics. Afterwards, he went to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania to complete his fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. After his fellowship, Dr. Louie worked 10 years in clinical practice in a Pediatric Emergency Department. His research interests include quality control and safety, introduction of new technology to the bedside, and improving education processes for nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians.
