Year 3 Goals & Objectives
Demonstrate mastery of the goals and objectives in all competencies outlined in the fellowship manual. Particular focus should be placed in the following areas: Clinical- Primary goals of inpatient experience:
- Lead inpatient rounds for all patients
- Act as primary communicator of therapeutic plans to families and other medical providers
- Conduct two 10-15 minute teaching rounds each week
- Lead resident through generation of differential diagnosis and therapeutic options for all new inpatient consultations
- Primary goals of outpatient/continuity and clinic/academic experience:
- Patient Care:Demonstrate independence and competence in performing an initial diagnostic evaluation and on-going management of patients with pediatric endocrine disorders
- Medical Knowledge:Be familiar with key pieces of medical literature that have been tantamount to establishment of the evidence based therapeutic guidelines for each disease outlined in Section A of PATIENT CARE Competency
- Problem Based Learning: Review goals of individualized learning plan from year two and outline needs for last year of fellowship and plans for what your needs will likely continue to be after fellowship
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate competence as a speaker by designating slides and presenting results of Master's or bench research to division
- Professionalism: Demonstrate effective communication skills with families during difficult situations on inpatient and outpatient environments
- Systems Based Practice: Demonstrate completed quality improvement project and identify area(s) for future improvement
Research:- Complete Master's thesis (if applicable)
- Take lead author role for peer-reviewed manuscript based on research during fellowship
- Complete supplementary academic work including poster presentations, platform presentations, review manuscripts, case presentations
- Prepare grant for on-going research (if applicable)
