Year 2 Goals & Objectives

Demonstrate an increasing independence in working towards meeting all goals and objectives of the program. Particular focus should be placed in the following areas:

Clinical

  • Primary goals of inpatient experience:
    • Conduct one 10-15 minute teaching round each week.
    • Lead rounds on all diabetes patients.
  • Primary goals of outpatient/continuity and clinic/academic experience:
    • Patient Care: Effectively generate an appropriate differential diagnosis for common pediatric endocrine referrals.
    • Medical Knowledge:Be comfortable discussing the molecular, genetic, and biochemical basis for the diseases outlined in the Section A PATIENT CARE Competency.
    • Problem Based Learning: Review goals of individualized learning plan and outline needs for second year of fellowship.
    • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Utilize learned teaching skills/attributes to present two journal clubs and 3M conferences.
    • Professionalism: Become comfortable and effective in discussing diagnosis and plan with families during outpatient encounters.
    • Systems Based Practice: Plan and implement quality improvement project

 

Research

  • Data collection for research project
  • Completion of Master's courses, if possible
  • Primary author of case presentation or review manuscript
  • Attend grant preparation course
