The Genetics of Type 1 Diabetes Study

The Genetics study, or the Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium, is studying the genes in Mexican American and African American families with Type 1 diabetes. The purpose of this study is to try to find out which genes cause diabetes. In these families, the parents and child with diabetes must be willing to participate. This study includes a single blood draw (which can be done at the University of Minnesota or a local clinic or lab) and answering health questions. There is no cost to participate and a payment of $25 per person tested.

If you are interested in having your family participate in the Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium, please contact:
