Kelly, Ph.D. Assistant Professor Mayo Mail Code 715 420 Delaware Street SE Minneapolis, MN 55455 Phone: (612) 626-3492 Fax: (612) 624-7147 kelly105@umn.edu Dr. Aaron Kelly received his Ph.D. in Exercise/Applied Physiology from the University of Minnesota in 2004, and completed his postdoctoral training and served as a Senior Research Scientist at St. Paul Heart Clinic (St. Paul, Minnesota) from 2004-2007. During this time he specialized in adult preventive medicine and cardiovascular disease research, and continued his pediatric research at the University of Minnesota as an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. In 2008, Dr. Kelly joined the Department of Pediatrics faculty full-time as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Dr. Kelly's current research broadly addresses cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes prevention starting in childhood. Severe obesity has been a primary focus of his research; in particular, studies aimed at characterizing the cardiometabolic risk factor profile and vascular status of youth with this condition and clinical trials evaluating various medical management strategies. Dr. Kelly is a member of the American Heart Association Committee on Atherosclerosis, Hypertension, and Obesity in the Young and serves as the Chair of the Minnesota Pediatric Obesity Consortium. His other areas of research include the vascular consequences of ADHD medication use in children, non-invasive methods of cardiovascular risk stratification in children with mucopolysaccharidosis, and clinical interventions to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease in childhood cancer survivors.
