John Andrews joined the Department of Pediatrics in July 2006 as the Associate Head for Education and Director of the Pediatric Residency program.
Dr. Andrews graduated from the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He completed his internship, residency, and chief residency in pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. He then completed a fellowship in Academic General Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins. After his fellowship, he joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. In 1997 he became Director of Medical Student Education in the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkins. In 2000, Dr. Andrews moved to Auckland, New Zealand to work as a Consultant Pediatrician at Starship Children's Hospital. There he was a member of a multidisciplinary child protection team and was also an Honorary Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Auckland. In 2003, he returned to the US to become Associate Director of Medical Education and Director of Graduate Education at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. He currently attends in the Minneapolis Children's Clinic and on the wards at Children's and University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, Fairview. His professional interests include humanism in medicine, evidence-based medicine, and medical education.
