Education: Global Health Track

Interested in improving the health of children from developing countries? Then the new Global Health Track of the University of Minnesota Pediatrics Residency is for you. We focus on the health of children in developing countries, where 90% of the world's children live, and in immigrant populations from developing countries here in the United States.

The breadth and diversity of education in our Global Health Track is unparalleled. The Global Health Track includes:

  • a core global health curriculum, with nationally recognized lecturers
  • protected time for unique "local global health" electives
  • protected time for international or Indian Health Service electives, with departmental stipend support
  • informal journal clubs
  • close collaboration with colleagues in Internal Medicine global health pathway
  • optional courses and seminars in global health, tropical medicine and travel medicine
  • opportunity to take the ASTMH-certified course in Tropical Medicine during residency

Please click on the links to the right for more information on the different aspects of our Global Health track.

If you are interested in Medicine/Pediatrics residency, the strong commitment of both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics departments at the University of Minnesota to global health education is unique. Click for more information on the Internal Medicine Global Health Pathway.
