Improving the outcomes of children with cancer through exceptional comprehensive clinical care and innovative research.

Welcome to the University of Minnesota Division of Hematology-Oncology.  We hope that our site provides you with the information that you are seeking.

The University of Minnesota Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Division supports a comprehensive clinical, research and education program.  In addition to oncology, experts in hematology and blood and marrow transplantation participate in the programs. A rapidly expanding area of focus for the Division involves the development of therapies designed to treat children with high risk malignancies or recurrence of their original cancer.  In addition new areas of focus include:

  • Bleeding and thrombotic disorders in children
  • An expanded neuro-oncology program
  • An expanded program in innovative therapies and new agents
  • Longitudinal studies of outcomes in cancer patients and patients treated with blood and marrow transplantation.
  • Childhood Leukemia Program

Excellent care, coupled with ongoing research, has had a significantly positive impact on the outcomes of children with cancer.  Investigators at the University of Minnesota Division of Hematology and Oncology are at the forefront of research that improves the survival of children with cancer.  Click on the Research Link to learn more about the research conducted by our faculty.

Patients needing hospitalization are cared for on a dedicated hematology/oncology inpatient unit within the University of Minnesota Children's Hospital, a division of Fairview.  Outpatient services are coordinated through the Masonic Cancer and Blood Disorder Clinic adjacent to the hospital.  Please click the Clinical Link to learn more about our Clinical Program.

Our faculty and staff are committed to education, for the next generation of health care providers as well as to patients and their families and the general public.  Visit our Education link to learn more about our educational programs.
