Clinic Appointment

The Eastern European Growth Project  Young children (9-15 months old) coming home from Eastern Europe are invited to participate in our current study examining growth and development.

Please call 612-626-6777 to make an appointment.

Please note that many families are waiting to be seen in clinic.  Therefore, if you are not able to keep your original appointment, please contact us (612-626-6777) at least 72 hours in advance so that we can serve as many families as possible.

As a University-based clinic, we constantly are working to improve our services based on new research findings. We have learned from recent research that monitoring the health and development of internationally adopted children is critical for providing necessary interventions as early as possible. Many months post-adoption, children are still experiencing significant changes in development. Therefore we recommend a series of four appointments at these intervals:

  • 2 - 3 weeks post-arrival
  • 6 months post-arrival
  • 18 months post-arrival
  • 30 months post-arrival

These appointments are designed to work in conjunction with, not in place of, the care provided by your child's regular pediatrician. We will provide clinic letters for your regular physician with our treatment recommendations.

MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR APPOINTMENT
For two-parent families and families with other siblings: we understand that circumstances do not always permit, but we feel that the best care for your child is possible when both parents can be present at the initial appointment, and if alternative care can be arranged for other siblings.

INTERPRETER SERVICES
If your child speaks a language other than English, please call 612-626-6777 to arrange for an interpreter if this was not done at the time your appointment was scheduled. Competent interpreter services in a long list of languages is provided through University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview.
