He earned his M.D. degree at Indiana University and completed his pediatric residency and neonatal-perinatal fellowship at the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. He is Associate Director of Clinical Services for the division and attends in the NICU at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairvew, in the Special Care Nurseries at Farview Ridges and Southdale hospitals and sees patients in the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview neonatal follow-up clinic. His clinical research interests have included the role of inhaled nitric oxide in premature infants; he also has interests in educational research, faculty development and determining trainee competency. As Associate Medical Director for the NICU, he plays roles in education at the resident and subspecialty resident level, in administration/program development and in outreach and neonatal CME activities for general pediatricians.
