Fellowship Training Program The Pediatric Nephrology Training Program at the University of Minnesota was initiated in 1965 by Drs Alfred Michael and Robert Vernier. The program continues today under the direction of Clifford Kashtan, M.D. Supported by a training grant from the National Institutes of Health since 1975, the program has graduated more than 100 trainees, more than 80 percent of whom occupy full-time positions in academic nephrology. The three-year program is accredited by the Residency Review Committee of the American Council on Graduate Medical Education.
