John Andrews Assumes Role of Director of Division of General PediatricsDr. John Andrews has assumed the role of Director of the Division of General Pediatrics, effective April 1. Dr. Andrews will continue his current role as the director of the pediatric residency program with the help of Dr. Emily Borman-Shoap, Dr. Tom George, and the Education Office staff. Brenda Weigel Assumes Role of Director of Division of Hematology/OncologyBrenda Weigel, MD, MSc, has assumed the role of Director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Weigel is internationally recognized for her work in pediatric sarcomas and developmental therapeutics, and has led many national and international trials. She is exceptionally well-qualified to serve in this new capacity. Please join the Department of Pediatrics in welcoming Brenda to this new role! Joseph Neglia Announces 2011 CHRCDA ScholarDr. Terri Laguna has been named as our inaugural CHRCDA Scholar for 2011. Terri is currently a University Scholar (formerly UPF Scholar) and has developed a translational research program in the study of biomarkers in cystic fibrosis patients. Her research focus is well-suited to the CHRCDA career development program, and we anticipate that Terri will be the first in a series of outstanding scholars supported by this award.
