Leave of Absence

  • All Leave of Absence Requests, Maternity, Paternity and Medical Leaves need to be communicated with the Adminstrative Director, Emily Gray, as far in advance as possible.

  • Please refer to the Policy Manual regarding LOA’s.

Change in Rotation Schedule, Vacation or Call days

  • Change in rotation, vacation or call days must be approved by the UMMC Chief Resident.

  • If you are trading with another resident, carbon copy that resident in your request.

  • If the change affects your continuity clinic in any way, it is your responsibility to inform your preceptor.

Backup call Requests

  • Your vacation will be automatically be considered by the chief when making your backup call.  We will attempt to give you the weekend days surrounding your vacation off as well.  However, only your requested vacation time can be guaranteed protection from backup assignment.

  • If you have other dates you do not want to be on backup, inform the UMMC Chief Resident by the 10th of the month prior to your elective.

  • Please refer to the Policy Manual regarding Backup Call responsibilities.
