UMACH Wards: PL-3 residents are the team leaders on our ward-based teams at the University. On these subspecialty-specific ward-based teams, senior residents manage rounds, supervise interns and medical students, and participate in teaching. Pediatric Critical Care: Residents spend time in the Amplatz Children's Hospital PICU, a 22 bed unit. Residents will gain experience of the management of critically ill children as well as management and care of cardiac post-operative patients.
Emergency Medicine: Residents spend one month rotating through a community pediatric emergency department as well as one month at our new Amplatz Children's Hospital Emergency Department. Residents have the chance to participate in the initial assessment of patients presenting to the ED, refine procedural skills, and participate in pediatric resuscitations. Elective: Residents have three blocks of elective time during their PL-3 year where they have a variety of elective options, including international rotations and time to devote toward their senior project.
