Michael J Miller, Psy.D., L.P.

Clinical interests include the areas of Borderline Personality Disorder, Family Therapy, and child and adolescent populations with a focus on impulse disorders and self-injurious behaviors. Services include diagnostics, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems intervention, and consultation to external programs and psychiatric units. Dr. Miller is the Coordinator for the DBT Treatment clinic in the department of psychiatry for both adults and adolescents. Current research includes use of both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic interventions with adults, adolescents, and family systems suffering from Borderline Personality Disorder; as well as impulse disorders in adolescents.

Previous clinical experiences have included treatment of adolescent sexual offenders in a residential setting. Dr. Miller also specializes in the use of therapeutic milieu in both day treatment and residential settings for adolescents and adults. Dr. Miller is intensively trained in the use of DBT with adults and additional training in its use with adolescents and families. Current professional memberships include American Psychological Association and the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology. Dr. Miller is an adjunct faculty member of the Alfred Adler Graduate School in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Education and Training:
Dr. Miller received his Psy.D. in clinical psychology at the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology in 2001. He received his master?s degree in clinical and Adlerian counseling at the Alfred Adler Graduate School in 1995. He completed his fellowship in the Dept. of Psychiatry at the University of Minnesota in 2005. He is currently an assistant professor in the Dept. of Psychiatry and a licensed psychologist in the State of Minnesota.
