Heather Whitney Sesma is an assistant professor in the department of Pediatrics. Her clinical interests include evaluating the neuropsychological functioning of children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, acquired neurological conditions, and complex medical conditions as well as consulting with caregivers, health care providers, and educators. She is currently involved in research examining brain-behavior relations in children who have experienced pre- and perinatal insults to neurobehavioral development such as prematurity or diabetic pregnancy using a combination of behavioral measures and event-related potentials (ERP). She also is involved in research exploring neuropsychological sequelae and functional recovery from pediatric traumatic brain injury. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the International Neuropsychological Society, and the Society for Research in Child Development. She serves as an ad hoc reviewer for Pediatrics.
