Pediatric Research Council


Pediatric Department Research Council

The Pediatric Department Research Council is comprised of members from each division.  The current Council Chair is Dr. Mark R. Schleiss.  The Council meets once a month to discuss current issues.  For more information contact Lori Wallin at l-wall@umn.edu.

Purpose and Goals

  1. Initiate a process of assessing our research strengths and current areas of expertise.
  2. Choose areas of focus with emphasis on recruitment and support.
  3. Review our departmental research infrastructure and assess the needed changes to optimize the utility of departmental research services (includes accounting, regulatory status, space use and acquisition, departmental equipment, etc.)
  4. Initiate strategies that increase the ability of our faculty to interact and share their research plans, progress, and priorities.
  5. Consider a formal mutual peer review process to optimize the success of our faculty in preparing grant proposals.
  6. Develop a plan for evaluation and administration of internal grants.
  7. Develop a Departmental Plan to incorporate the advancement of faculty supported by the Child Health Research Career Development Awards held by the Department.
  8. Develop a comprehensive plan for mentoring the research careers of faculty at all levels of advancement.
