Pediatric Research, Education and Scholarship Symposium (PRESS)
January 13, 2012 Dear Colleagues: The Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce the Sixth Annual Pediatric Research, Education and Scholarship Symposium (PRESS) on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 11:45 - 5:00 p.m. at the Carlson School of Management, 3M Auditorium. The PRESS provides an opportunity to recognize the research and scholarly activities of graduate students, residents, postdoctoral associates and clinical fellows in the department. While submission of abstracts from all trainees is encouraged, every year-two and beyond subspecialty (clinical) fellow is required to submit an abstract for this event unless specifically excused by his/her fellowship program director. Those submitting abstracts must identify a sponsoring faculty member and complete an abstract submission form (see link below). Trainees submitting abstracts should be the first author of the abstract and should state his/her contribution to the research. Only one abstract per trainee will be considered. In order to assure the timeliness of the work, the data may have been published previously on an abstract, but not yet as a paper. Abstracts will be reviewed by members of the Pediatric Research Council and will be selected for either oral or poster presentation. The standard 8-minute slide format, with 2 minutes for Q&A will be strictly enforced for oral presentations. Prizes in various categories will be awarded and the winners will be recognized at the Department of Pediatrics Annual Education, Research, and Service Recognition Banquet held in June, 2012. Abstracts must be submitted to Debbie Rootes (roote001@umn.edu) no later than Monday, March 5, 2012 at 12:00 PM. Sincerely, Joseph P.
