Dr. Evren Akin is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology.  She received her M.D. degree from the Medical Faculty of Istanbul University, completed her Pediatric Residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and completed her Rheumatology Fellowship at the Floating Hospital for Children, Tufts University.

She is a full-time clinician in the outpatient rheumatology clinic at Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Her additional responsibilities include teaching medical, dental and nursing students as well as pediatric residents in the outpatient setting. Her research interests include pediatric Lyme arthritis and minocycline induced lupus-like syndrome.  She is a continuing medical education lecturer in the Twin Cities and vicinity.

She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Rheumatology, and Childhood Arthritis and Research Alliance (CARRA). She serves on the protocol review committee for dermatomyositis subgroup of CARRA.
