Patient survival at one-year for 1996-2002 US cadaveric pancreas transplants was at least 94% in all categories and highest in PTA: SPK 95%; PAK 94%; PTA 98% and nearly 90% in all categories at 4 years (Figure 5). The death rate increased for recipients who lost graft function. However, deaths >1 year after pancreas graft loss were unlikely to be transplant related; thus, patient survival curve calculations were done for 1996-2002 US cadaveric pancreas transplants with recipients censored 12 months after graft failure (Figure 6).
