Our interest is to identify the biological function of risk loci that are associated with cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Our laboratory incorporates genome wide association data, clinical studies, tissue specific gene expression from banked genotyped human specimens, and data from model organisms and cells. We are currently focused on identifying the biological function of a mutation in the gene TCF7L2 that increases risk for type 2 diabetes.
