Jay Zhang, M.D., Ph.D., Division of Cardiology in the Department of Medicine at the University of Minnesota

 Dr. Zhang

Professor of Medicine and Biomedical Engineering
Director, NIH Funded Laboratory of Cardiac Energetics and Laboratory of Cellular Therapy for Cardiac Failure, Division of Cardiology

Medical School: Shanghai Medical University, Shanghai, PRC

Ph.D.: Master of Science, School of Engineering, Tufts University, Medford, Massachusetts; Biomedical Engineering, Institute of Technology Graduate School, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Post-doctoral: Cardiology, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Research Interests: Myocardial energetics in heart with LV remodeling and congestive heart failure.

I received an Established Investigator Award from American Heart Association (AHA) and First Award from National Institutes of Health (NIH). Currently, I am principal investigator (PI) of three RO1 grants from NIH, and Co-PI of four RO1 grants. Over the years, our research lab has trained 30 trainees (PhD, Post-Doc, residents, and cardiology fellows) and I am currently advisor to four students earning their PhD in Biomedical Engineering.

Professional Organizations: American Physiological Society, American Heart Association, Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, American Physiological Society. Reviewer on NIH SCCOR grant review panel, Special Review Committee (for PPG), and other study sections; Ad Hoc Scientific Journal Reviewer for Circulation, American Journal of Physiology and Diabetes.
