How do I get a pager?
Mary Tramel or your division administrator is responsible for ensuring that you are given a pager upon becoming a Faculty member.
We prefer that you keep your pager on at all times, except when you are at a meeting or on vacation.
What happens when I am on service?
The hospital attaches specific “job codes” to your pager when you are on service for:
What if I leave my pager at home or if I lose my pager?
You can obtain a “loaner” at the front desk of the hospital or ask your assistant to obtain one for you.
How will I know when my pager has run out of batteries?
WARNING: When your pager’s battery is near end of its lifespan, it will stop accepting pages. However, you will still be able to view all of the previous pages you have received. This seems to happen more often when your pager is set on the “silent” mode. Your division office should maintain a supply of batteries for your use.
What is the prefix and area code for my pager?

How do I page someone In-house?

SYSTEM: Please enter the four digit I.D to page.
USER: ENTER THE FOUR-DIGIT I.D. NUMBER.
SYSTEM: States the status and if the person is available, directs you to enter the number you wish to be displayed.
USER: ENTER YOUR SEVEN DIGIT CALL BACK PHONE NUMBER, THEN HANG UP.
How do I send text messages to a pager?
To send a text message to a pager, go to the American Messaging “Send a Message” webpage: http://www.myairmail.com. On the “To” line, enter the 10-digit pager number you are trying to page, e.g., 612-899-XXXX or 612-510-XXXX. Please refer to the monthly schedules for individual faculty pager numbers. Enter your text message under “Your Message.” Enter your name and contact number under “Sender” (optional). Then click the “Send Message” button.
Please note, if someone has a status change message set on his/her pager, such as “unavailable or call office” this information is only communicated to those who page via the inhouse paging system and is not relayed to those using American Messaging text paging.
How do I change the status on my pager?
Changing Status – Inhouse Paging System Status availability only stated to caller when paging via in-house paging system. The paging system allows the user to change their status without operator assistance. (Do not dial 9 before the access code.)
