Welcome to our Duluth Medical Campus website. We have a strong, focused passion to graduate primary care and family physicians who will practice in small town, rural and Native American communities. It’s a goal that is never ending because the need for these doctors is constantly growing. Each year 55 first-year students enter through our doors and start learning the science of medicine. Equally as important, they also begin to learn the art of medicine. Uniquely to our campus, we give our students immediate clinical experiences with rural family doctors in clinics and hospitals throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. We believe these experiences are important because working in smaller communities can be an exciting challenge on many levels, and we want our students to understand and embrace that challenge from day one. After their first two years here, Duluth students transfer to the Twin Cities campus for their final two years on the path to an MD degree and a residency. Our faculty is composed of clinicians and scientists actively involved in research primarily focused on cancer, neuroscience, environmental medicine, rural mental health, and American Indian health. We also have active Ph.D. and Masters graduate programs. |
