| Residency Insurance and Retirement Benefits | ||
| Health Insurance | Residents have a choice of two plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield—both plans have co-pays. Nearly half the cost of family coverage for either plan is paid. Residents have the option for Domestic Partner Family Health Insurance Coverage. | |
| Dental Insurance | A dental benefit program is available for residents only. | |
| Basic Term Life Insurance | The University pays for $50,000 of group term life insurance. | |
| Voluntary Term Life Insurance | Up to $150,000 of additional life insurance coverage is available to residents, their spouse or domestic partner, and children at low group rates. | |
| Short-term Disability | The University covers benefits up to 70 percent of pre-disability stipend after a 14-day waiting period. | |
| Long-term Disability | The University covers benefits up to 80 percent of pre-disability stipend after a 90-day waiting period. | |
| Malpractice Insurance | Coverage provides for activities within the resident's course and scope of duties at no cost to the resident. | |
| Flexible Spending Account | Residents are eligible for pre-tax health care and dependent care. More info. | |
| Optional Retirement Plan | Makes contributions to your 403(b) Optional Retirement Plan or 457 Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis. | |
| Vacation and Leaves | ||
| Vacation | 15 days per contract year; unused vacation may not be accumulated. | |
| Sick Leave | Short periods of sick leave are available at the discretion of the program director. | |
| Miscellaneous Leaves | Days away from the program may be granted at the discretion of the program director for not more than three days at a time. | |
| Maternity/Paternity Leaves | Department policy allows six weeks paid maternity leave with continued benefits, and two weeks paid paternity or adoption leave upon approval by the program director. For maternity leave, the resident must complete a short-term disability application. | |
| Prenatal-Newborn Elective | May be taken by second- or third-year residents who have a child born during their residency training; the duration of the elective will be two to six weeks. | |

| Continuing Medical Education/Technology Fund | Up to $1,000 reimbursement per academic year (July 1 - June 30) for PDA, personal computer, software, conference expenses, and clinical textbooks and journals. | |

| Moving Allowance | Up to $1,000 reimbursement for initial relocation expenses. | |
