Sports Medicine at North Memorial, Department of Family Medicine in the Medical School at the University of Minnesota

Do you like working with motivated, healthy, active patients? Do you want to learn more about musculoskeletal injuries? Do you need to brush up on your joint exams/injections? Do you enjoy just being around athletics? These are just a few of the reasons to get involved in sports medicine at North Memorial.

Dave Olson, MD, faculty at North Memorial, shown at right with residents during a sports medicine workshop, completed the Notre Dame Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Olson works with high school, college, and professional teams and has opened doors for residents at North Memorial in the world of sports medicine.

There are numerous opportunities in sports medicine at North Memorial, regardless of your level of interest. Some of these opportunities are a monthly noon conference on sports medicine topics and Wednesday afternoon musculoskeletal/sports medicine clinic. Residents also cover high school games and a weekly training room working with athletic trainers. Several residents have attended conferences both locally in the Twin Cities and nationally. Others at North have done sports medicine rotations with local fellowship-trained family physicians who provide wonderful teaching. Whatever your interest in sports medicine, you will likely find a way to meet your needs at North Memorial.
