Research Interests

Dr. James S. Pankow, Associate Professor in the Division of Epidemiology, is a genetic epidemiologist focusing on the etiology of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its associated risk factors. Dr. Pankow is director of an NHLBI-sponsored training grant in CVD genetic epidemiology. He is principal investigator or co-investigator on several studies that are collecting information on CVD and CVD risk factors in families (NHLBI Family Heart Study; MESA Family Study; Hypertension Genetic Epidemiology Network; Influence of Blood Pressure Change During Adolescence; Beaver Dam Offspring
Study; Genetic and Environmental Determinants of Triglycerides). His research includes linkage analysis, association and haplotype analysis, and analysis of gene-environment interactions.
