Each application is reviewed by at least three members of the LHI Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) or their designee with the specific scientific expertise and will be scored on:
Score:
Outstanding, top 10% = 100 to 150 points.
Excellent, 11-25% = 151 to 200 points.
Very Good, 26-40% = 201 to 250 points.
Good, 41-50% = 251 to 300 points.
Not Recommended = bottom half.
Percentile should be approximated using the "normative" NIH study section.
Rules of the Road:
No two fellowships can be concurrent on the same research proposal. Therefore, if you have submitted an application to a national funding agency (e.g. AHA, ALA, etc) on the same research request, and are awarded a national fellowship, you will be expected to disqualify yourself from the Lillehei Scholars Award.
Application should be 3-5 pages with a maximum of 5 pages, exclusive of references and should follow the recommended order as per application template. Allow 2 additional pages for illustrations only. Be succinct, but thorough; including grade transcript when appropriate, and a letter from your sponsor clarifying facility and mentor support.
Be as specific as possible on your budget; e.g. separating stipend from lab supplies.
Omission of the require information (as per the application template) may disqualify your application.
Your sponsor must be a LHI member and only one fellowship per sponsor will be awarded.
