Winford P. Larson Lectureship, Department of Microbiology in the Medical School at the University of Minnesota
Winford P. Larson was appointed as the first head of the Department of Bacteriology and Immunology in 1919 and served in that capacity for 29 years. During his long tenure, Larson built a distinguished department that ranked nationally just behind the departments at Harvard and Johns Hopkins. In 1996, through a generous gift from Dr. Larson's daughter, Lorna Larson Ordal, the Department of Microbiology was able to establish the Winford P. Larson Lectureship Series.
