| Dr. French is a Professor Emeritus of Neurosurgery. He received his B.S., M.D., and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota, and completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the same institution. Dr. French served as Head of the Department of Neurosurgery from 1960 to 1970, and as Vice President for Health Sciences Affairs at the University of Minnesota from 1970 to 1982. Previously, Dr. French was President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (1973-74); President of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery (1972-73); President of the Minnesota Academy of Medicine (1960-61); President of the Neurosurgical Society of America (1957-58); and Vice President of the American Society for Stereotactic Surgery (1963). He also served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Neurosurgery, and the journal of Modern Medicine. Dr. French is a recipient of the Harvey Cushing Medal from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Neurological Surgeons, the Outstanding Physician Award from the Minnesota Academy of Family Practice, and the Neurosurgeon Award from the American Academy of Neurological Surgery. |
