Opportunities for the Public
To further reach the public and make them aware of the work at the University, The MAC Center holds annual Macular Degeneration Symposia. At these Symposia, there are presentations by distinguished speakers, all of whom are specialists in the various aspects of macular degeneration, either here at the University of Minnesota or in private practice.
The topics touched on include the Minnesota grading system for macular degeneration, basic mechanisms of macular degeneration, bioengineering in macular degeneration research, a presentation by the Director of the University’s Visual Rehabilitation Center, information on low vision reading and wayfinding, and a discussion of the connection between vascular disease and macular degeneration, as well as information on Twin Cities clinical trial sites enrolling macular degeneration patients.
Each Symposium is free to the public, but space is limited so reservations are required. Please call 612-625-8992 for information about the next scheduled Symposium.
