Dr. Harrison was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Missouri Medical School and interned at Jewish Hospital of St. Louis at Washington University. He was a resident in ophthalmology at the University of Minnesota. Following his residency, he completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology and orbital surgery at the University of Minnesota with Dr. Jonathan Wirtschafter. He then completed a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Casey Eye Institute at Oregon Health Sciences University with Dr. John L. Wobig. Dr. Harrison was accepted as a fellow of the prestigious American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Harrison joined the faculty in 1999. He has a joint appointment in the Departments of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He is the director of the Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Service at the University and is also on the neuro-ophthalmology service. He is active in training four new ophthalmology residents each year and is co-director of the fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology.
Dr. Harrison is available for adult and pediatric ophthalmic plastic and neuro-ophthalmic consultations. He operates at the University of Minnesota Medical Center as well as many of other ambulatory surgical centers in the Twin Cities. He works closely with members of the Facial Plastic, Ear Nose and Throat, Neurosurgical, Dermatology and Neuro-Radiology Departments at the University to provide care for patients with complex disorders. He is a member of the University Craniofacial Clinic.
